Never a better time to review safety issues than before we head out to the field for the first time. Even seasoned veterans need to take a few moments and get a little refresher on tree stand safety. We are never to old to learn something we might have forgotten.

Despite the dangers, ice fishing remains a safe activity as long as you know how to recognize hazards and practice safety. As a rule, three to four inches of ice is considered safe. Remeber that the ice thinkness can vary dramatically across the lake so be sure to drill or spud several test holes before venturing onto the ice.
